Nikka From The Barrel

One of my favorite bang-for-the-buck whiskies. A blend from the Nikka distilleries (Yoichi, Miyagikyo, Grain) and bottled at 51.4% vol. so you have a bit room to experiment with water as well. Bottled in 0.5Liter bottles with batch numbers. Be aware thou there is a bit more batch variation here than with other whiskies in my opinion.
So this is a review of Batch 06J08A

  • Nose: Oak, a tad sherry influence, oranges, caramel, dry
  • Mouth: Oak, caramel candy, a bit chocolate, malt
  • Finish: Long and warm, a lot of oak and a bit smoke,
Comment: Excellent stuff, especially at the price. Great oak influence and a tad sherry as well. A great introduction whisky into the world of Japanese whisky.
