Nikka Taketsuru 12

A pure malt from the (presumably Japanese) Nikka distilleries Yoichi and Miyagikyo. Nikka also owns the Ben Nevis distillery in Scotland. Bottled at 40% vol.

  • Nose: Flowery, "cold" - a bit metallic, a tad alcoholic - vanishes after a few minutes, sugar sirup
  • Mouth: A bit coffee, burnt caramel, grassy, flowery
  • Finish: Short, a bit spices come trough, but nothing too distinctive
Comments: This one really suffers from the 40% vol. in my opinion, at times it feels almost watery on the palate. Generally it's a bit too simple and boring like this. Pricing is fair thou.
