Yoichi 1985 - 21yo - for Whisky Live! 2007 - Cask 250192

This almost 22 year old Yoichi was bottled for the Whisky Live! fair in Tokyo in 2007. Labled ala SMWS as "Spent shotguns and old tobacco pipes", distilled in march 1985, bottled at 50.7% vol. with 242 bottles. Also the bottles sport a fancy signature from Dave Broom.
The cask is a Hogshead with the number 250192.

  • Nose: Very strong peat and smoke, vanilla, peat sweetness, a bit medicinal and interestingly some poundcake
  • Mouth: Dry, peat, earthy and very oily
  • Finish: Oily as in an oily cover over your tongue, peat, earth, some subtle oak, cinnamon hotness, some whiffs of sherry, generally strong flavors, towards the end very smokey and at the very finish cream

Comment: It has a very nice finish, but nose and mouth are a bit simple for a high score in my opinion. For the 21 years it is still VERY potent in the smoke and peat department much like a young Ardbeg. If you are a lover of fierce and heavily peated whiskies you'd maybe rate this one a bit higher than me.
